EDGE or Extended Day Generates Excellence is an after-school program which began at Walker Upper Elementary School on September 4, 2001, by former Principal Jim Henderson, former Assistant Principal Luvelle Brown and current Co-Director Rod Durrer.
Its mission is to provide all students with appropriate and safe recreational learning opportunities after-school through academic and non-academic clubs. The program offers numerous club activities and learning experiences that honor student individuality, develop intellectual potential, and arm students with the ability to think freely and independently. The goals of the program are for students to Explore, Design, Grow, and Experience new and exciting ideas while generating excellence and igniting a passion for learning.
5th and 6th grade students currently attending Walker School may participate in the EDGE Program.
The program operates one session on Wednesdays from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. The program cost $20 per semester which includes transportation home as well as a snack. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch are not required to pay a fee.
